As we step into the new year, we look back with gratitude at what 2024 brought for HerArts

And That’s A Wrap on 2024! (Rolling Into 2025)

As we step into the new year, we look back with gratitude at what 2024 brought for HerArts. Last year we saw two new vibrant cohorts of talented writers come together in Paestum, expanding our community to underrepresented voices from new countries such as Georgia and Ukraine, and the first participant from our native region of Campania! We received support from the Campania Film Commission and got official patronage from Eurimages - an important backing that strengthens our belief in our initiative. We welcomed new guests at the lab: Isabella Weber, a script consultant and head of development at Kinoproduzioni, and Campania-born actress Irene Maiorini, who recently stunned audiences and critics alike as the unforgettable Lila in the fourth season of HBO series “My Brilliant Friend.” We were reunited with our alums and mentors, made new friends and forged new connections during visits to film festivals and markets. We are proud that our community of female and non-binary filmmakers is growing and their projects are recognized by the industry, other labs and funds; we’re especially happy about the collaborations forged between our alums - we hope to share more about it all soon!

Now we look forward to what 2025 brings. We are starting promptly with the announcement of a call for submissions for our Spring 2025 lab which will take place between April 28 – May 4. The call will open on January 10 and run until February 14. This year, we’re introducing a new perk for “Early Birds”: a discount to the participation fee for those who apply before January 31!

Stay tuned and spread the word among friends, colleagues and filmmakers in your network!

Cheers to all! May 2025 bring you joy, inspiration and beauty, and peace for the world!

The First Edition of HERARTS Film Lab Wrapped

The First Edition of HERARTS Film Lab Wrapped

„Writing is a lonely job,” writes Stephen King. It requires a lot of self-discipline, dedication, stamina, confidence... It’s ridden with as much joy and excitement as it is with fear and anxiety, especially at the prospect of that inevitable and vulnerable moment of having to show your writing to other people.

About HerArts
