Amy Omar

Amy Omar is a Turkish-American filmmaker from New York and currently based in Rome, Italy. Her short films have screened at Oscar-qualifying film festivals such as SXSW and Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. In August 2024, Amy directed the pilot episode for the scripted T.V. series, THE FEATHER DETECTIVE, produced by Talon Entertainment (OH CANADA). Amy’s feature screenplays have been supported by the Pelion Screenwriting Residency in Greece, Stowe Narrative Labs and were finalists for the Sundance Development Lab and the Wscripted Cannes Screenplay List. At HerArts, she’ll be working on her multilingual feature film project DILARA.

DILARA (feature film)
In an effort to assert her independence, a young Turkish-American girl accompanies her father to the island of Kos, Greece, where he has recently inherited land from a deceased uncle. In Greece, Dilara experiences her first taste of childhood growing pains as she begins to uncover her family history.
