Gugu Kunene

GUGU KUNENE has worked for many years as a journalist for radio, print and TV news. She is a co-author of a book, THE LIGHTER SIDE OF LIFE ON ROBBEN ISLAND (Makana, 2012). In 2018, she was selected for the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) Female Filmmakers Programme where she wrote and directed her first project, a short film. Gugu is drawn to romance, drama and comedy. She writes for different formats, from animation to documentaries, feature films and telenovelas. She’s also developing documentaries, a holdover from her journalism days. Additionally, her love for interior design, has opened doors for her to work in different roles in the Art Department for independent producers.
